The 3rg training programme has been developed to address the latest SIA learning outcomes for Close Protection licensing, including essential units such as Principles & Working as a Close Protection operative, covering:
- Roles and Responsibilities

- Threat Assessment
- Risk Management

As well as the core competencies, 3rg provides relevant training for both the HECPO* (Hostile Environments Close Protection Operative) and Executive Protection roles.
What is a HECPO? Typically, a student with formal firearms training, e.g., former military personnel who has passed an approved CP course and is SIA licensed.
What if I don't have formal firearms training? A HET (Hostile Environment Training) certificate will be awarded to those who have attended the hostile environment training module.
*Note - those without formal firearms training will not partake in weapon handling assessments.
*Note – HECPO and HET is 3rg certification and not a qualification funded by ELCAS.
At 3rg, we believe that Surveillance Training is one of the most important modules within the training. This is why we insist on only surveillance qualified instructors to lead this valuable subject, delivering our Enhanced Surveillance Module.
FUTURE PROSPECTS:
High Pass Rate – At 3rg, we pride ourselves on delivering the best Close Protection Training possible, ensuring the necessary skills are passed to each individual student.
Self-reflection – On the rare occasion where a student may not be successful in passing a module, the first question we ask is – Could the training have been better? Resits are available at no additional charge (T’s & C’s apply).
SIA Licence Application – After course completion, we keep the communication lines open to help with licence issues, licence renewal, and potential employment both with 3rg and other security providers.
Future Employment – 3rg cannot guarantee future employment, but with our strong industry links, we will endeavour to ensure suitable candidates have the best chance of securing employment with associate private security providers.
Note: Candidates who do not already have a formal medical qualification (Level 3 RQF 3 Day First Aid at Work or Level 3 RQF First Response in Emergency Care / First Person on Scene) will be required to take the FREC 3 course, which can be added to the Close Protection course at an additional charge.
