Level 2 Certificate for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry (Top Up)

(NEW SIA APPROVED SPECIFICATION OCT 2022)

If you have held a close protection licence before 1 October 2022, you need to take the close protection top-up training to renew your close protection licence.

* Note: If you sat your CP course at 3rg from May 2022 onwards, you are not required to complete a CP top up course as you have completed the new specification. If unsure, please get in contact.

The TOP UP qualification is comprised of four of the units taken from the new Close Protection

Qualification which was introduced in April 2022, they are:

• Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry
• Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry
• Application of Physical Intervention Skills for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry
• Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry

All units are mandatory.

How is the Top Up qualification assessed?

The Top Up qualification includes a combination of knowledge and practical assessments as well as multiple choice exams for each of the 4 modules.

Students are also required to update their first aid qualification prior to taking the Top Up training- this must have at least a year left on it in date as per SIA requirements:

Level 3 First Aid At Work (3 Days)

Level 3 First Response in Emergency Care (5 Days)

Level 3 First Response in Emergency Care Refresher (3 Days) - *note certificate must be in date.
